Mushrooms on Toast

I keep coming across recipes for mushrooms on toast.  I see it listed among other sides when serving steak.  I think about it a lot.  And I’m going to make it-  eventually.  Please let me know if you make it.  Invite me over or leave a tip.  its gotta be scruptous.  Im thinking to do the mushroom in a pan with just a sprinkling of onions, then butter the toast and fry it up in the same pan.  I wonder the recipe says to do?

Tabernia de Ignacio

I love Wednesday nights. I never know what might happen or where we might end up. Tonight we were stuck up in Hialeah and Todd had selected this nearby place which he passes regularly, a little Spanish place that we really enjoyed. The food was superb. We both had fish and I had a garlic soup… oh I do love that garlic.  And the dessert, Catalona, was mmmm mmmm good.  The staff was friendly and helpful and there was salt on the table, sadly no cloth napkins but on their own the servers did continue bringing us paper napkins.

if this place was in the neighborhood I would return often

The answer to overcoming poverty?

I don’t know if its the answer to breaking the cycle of poverty or not, but i think if we don’t try, we will never improve.  I think nothing is perfect and perhaps The Harlem Children’s Zone  is an idea worth thinking about.  The HCZ is “aimed at doing nothing less than breaking the cycle of generational poverty for the thousands of children and families it serves.”

I have heard about it for years and sometimes mention it in conversation and people aren’t aware so I’m sharing.

I’ll also share this on the subject of global poverty- I have a cousin , an economist who studies things like which programs work and actually benefit the people they are trying to help.  He founded  IPA , a research and policy non-profit that discovers and promotes effective solutions to global poverty problems.

Megan Leavey

Based on the true story of Megan Leavey and her dog Rex.  This movie tugged at every heart string.   I sat rapt for the entire two hours.  I didn’t know what the movie was about or where it was going, but that didn’t matter.  Like reading a good book, I enjoyed a good story,  the entire ensemble provided perfect performances.  Wow, because not a movie I would have picked myself.

LA BOULANGERIE

Pinecrest!!!!

I have loved La Boulangerie since I first tried it on the curve of Coral Way a few years ago.  But what a long drive for Paparadelle Funghi.  So when a restaurant of the same name advertised its opening in Pinecrest, at the old Gardners on 124th Street my heart beat faster.. could it be the same place?  YES, with the same menu.  Apparently this is location 4.  There is one on the key, and also in Aventura.  Oh happy day!
