I am loving the Madruga Bakery. The picture above is not the monkey bread. It is a small bun of cinnamony knots of sweetness that was devoured before I even thought to take a photo. But the bakery is lovely, conveniently located in South Miami behind the publix. They have a limited lunch menu.. its clean, its open, it smells good.

Ms. Cheezeous
I love my mom and we loved the backyard at Ms. Cheesious (near the 79th Street Causeway). They have opened a gables location.. I haven’t been.. but when I go, I’m going to save room for the s’mores dessert.
LA BOULANGERIE
Pinecrest!!!!
I have loved La Boulangerie since I first tried it on the curve of Coral Way a few years ago. But what a long drive for Paparadelle Funghi. So when a restaurant of the same name advertised its opening in Pinecrest, at the old Gardners on 124th Street my heart beat faster.. could it be the same place? YES, with the same menu. Apparently this is location 4. There is one on the key, and also in Aventura. Oh happy day!
Yum Yum chinese
So we were hungry, craving some cheap Chinese fried rice and heading out to the beach for a concert at New World. Continue reading “Yum Yum chinese”
Caffe Vialetto
Hands Down my favorite, even though they don’t have a dessert I love. For the first two years I came here I got the Papparadeli Short Ribs. I had tasted it and knew nothing could compare. Then one night I tried a piece of fish with risotto, then I tried the short rib, then another piece of fish. Now I don’t know what to order except of course the Duck Salad to start, unless I order the Ceasar, with a few anchovies. Beer and Wine only.
Le Provincal
and last week I treated myself to take out. So wonderful. Perfectly prepared fish, delicious salad, everything is always good here. Located on miracle mile practically next door to the theatre, Le Provencal has been on miracle mile forever serving up fabulous french food.
OBBA
Sushi in Coral Gables.
We stopped in at OBBA for lunch. I was with family who had been there before and liked it. We ordered too much and enjoyed every bite. the presentation was exquisite and the experience delightful.
I was especially taken by the phone charger they provided at the table. i never knew such a thing existed.
Books and Books
Yes, its a book store but the Cafe is great. Its a must visit if you are in the gables, tho he also has locations at the Arsht Center, on the Beach and a few others. Sitting on the Patio in the gables, enjoying a great sandwich, coffee and a really good dessert, surrounded by books and good people. I love it here.
The Peacock Garden Cafe
Coconut grove for lunch. Love this place.
The food is good but the atmosphere is why i go. Sometimes I just want to eat in the garden and this is one of the few places in Miami where one can do that. The bonus being the food is good and you take a walk through the Grove afterwards. It can feel like wind tunnel outside and they are pretty strict about not serving dinner items at lunch.
