WALTER’s

OK, i’ll tell you what it is… first let me say that the country fried steak and fish and fried shrimp were as good as we had hoped.. sadly, dessert was not tempting until our lovely server mentioned the cook could throw a blueberry muffin on the grill and serve it up with ice cream.. enough said.. dig in!

MESA MAR

On Giralda, tonight we brought the dog and sat outside at Mesa Mar.  Bug city.  I don’t recommend the outdoor seating at this time of year but I loved this place.  It has everything it takes to be a new favorite.

Great food, including a magnificent Chocolate Mousse.  we ate off the Miami Spice Menu.   Sharing all good things.  A grilled fish, what presentation.  A small Filet Mignon with potatoes.  Fresh delicious veggies.  The appetizer sushi and fish croquettes.  And two of those wonder Mousse Desserts.

With a chef owner on site it was ll spectacular.

A NEW FAVORITE

AROMAS DEL PERU, how have we waited so long to try you.

Pisco Sours, Fried corn with green sauce, a fish fry, and the most delectable piece of Corvina – cooked and spiced to perfection.

Paper napkins would be my only hesitation… but those of you who know me know I have developed the habit of carrying my own cloth napkin with me.

We went to the one near Red Road on 8th Street.  Now, as you may know we do not repeat a place on Wednesday nights, however,  we think we might try all four locations.. that’s not cheating, is it?  And, we actually were here on a Saturday…

And it only gets better.

When we pulled up I thought, looking at the neighborhood, that even I might not want to get out of the car.  But this was wonderful.  Perfect in every way.  Cloth napkins, salt on the table, a huge wheel of Parmesian cheese with honey and bread – help yourself-.

Then desserts on display.  Eclectic.. and I think thats the first time I ever used that word.

This is THE PLACE to try.  Open just a month they have it all pulled together.  Magnificent menu.  We had a Ceasar salad – more than enough for two.  Coq au vain, a burger, chocolate cake, a beer and an unusual cosmopolitan.  I brought a brownie home!!!!

LA BOULANGERIE

Pinecrest!!!!

I have loved La Boulangerie since I first tried it on the curve of Coral Way a few years ago.  But what a long drive for Paparadelle Funghi.  So when a restaurant of the same name advertised its opening in Pinecrest, at the old Gardners on 124th Street my heart beat faster.. could it be the same place?  YES, with the same menu.  Apparently this is location 4.  There is one on the key, and also in Aventura.  Oh happy day!
