Toscano Divino

This was one of those odd picks.  Todd usually chooses something off the beaten path for wednesday nights.  Im nt sure how he came u with this.  Perhaps because it was a beautiful night and we wanted to be outside.  SO here we were in the heart of Mary Brickell Village enjoying the people watching eating passable italian.

Sometimes on a Wednesday night Todd knows just where we are going, usually actually that is the case.  But I think we wound up here completely by accident.  And we loved it.  We still aren’t sure what the name is about.  5 hams?  yeah, but there seems to be more to it- that is the idea of ‘five hams’ has some connotation that we dont get.  But the meats are great, the sides and service also wonderful , and some nights there is a latin band.

Lola’s Gourmet

I really wanted to go to Lola’s.  I saw it out my car window near 8th street and red road and thought there was something about it.  I was right.

Sort of Spanish, Sort of Rustic, sort of Familyish the food was good.  I am still not certain what to order because I know we ordered wrong.  And if we were allowed to go back to a place we had been Todd and I would return.  But the rules are we can’t go back together so eventually I will go back with someone else.

Zuma

I love Zuma, but I like it best when there are 4 or 6 of us and we can share and taste.  Ridiculously expensive and so worth it.   Leave 30 minuted to get your car out of valet. Asian fusion.. each dish is unique, each flavor enticing. its a top notch place with nothing comparable around.   On a cool night you can sit outside on the river and watch the boats pass by.  On any other night you can watch the beautiful people and the plates of food passing by.

Il forno

Back to Doral… I’m still not sure what or where it is but its fifteen minutes north on the palmetto?? maybe?  and filled with good food.

The large room was anchored by a wood fired oven.  The tables were well spaced, the patrons all happy.  Great drinks, good food, good service.

I had a veal chop with potatoes and spinach. All top notch.  The bread was puffy and oil for dipping fresh.

If i lived in Doral might keep trying it.
