Shame on whoever wrote this movie, shame on whoever casted these talentless actresses, and just shame. Again we have a great story, or a good story, a woman searching for self as she comes to that empty nest stage of life. The Year By The Sea is a great example of pandering, and condescension. I can’t say enough bad things about it. Im not even sure that they made Cape Cod attractive. How can you not show off Cape Cod.

Viceroy’s House, starring the dad from Downton Abbey. Gotta love him, and his wife, and most of the story of partition of India. Which, according to the Guardian, is historically incorrect (fake history they call it) in where it lays blame for the millions of lives lost during partitiion.
Absolutely don’t have to enjoy a single minute of the love story, blachhh. I would skip this one.
13 MINUTES
13 Minutes that could have changed the course of history.
Not well advertised but soul moving.. what a story and so well told.
How did the Nazis come to power? What was it like in the towns? For the people? Who fell in line and who resisted?
Georg Elser saw it happening and tried to stop it. Unfortunately the bomb he assembled to blow Hitler and his Reich to pieces went off 13 minutes to late.
Haunting, unnerving, stomach turning… marvelous and worthwhile.
Another Documentary
Tonight it was Letters From Baghdad. To be honest I nodded off. But it was interesting. The story of Gertrude Bell, a young British women who found herself in the Mideast and fell in love with the place in the early 1900’s. The scenes was beautiful, the story well told. I almost felt as if I had been there.
Documentary
Monterey Pop, it grew on me. I keep flashing back to the scenes of happy engaged faces rocking to the music. No cell phones, no cameras out. How old I must be becoming if I am complaining about ‘changing times’ and feeling romantic and nostalgic for the good old days….
It’s For Your Own Good. Three fathers take on the challenge of excising there daughters boyfriends for there lives. A silly heartwarming giggle inducing film.
THE EXCEPTION
What does the title mean, why call this movie The Exception. It took some to figure it out, but wow, what a story. And told so well. The background was beautiful, the people enchanting, filled with moments of joy and terror and questioning.
Pretty Bad Movie – The Beguiled
I have few good things to say about The Beguiled. If I search for something positive I suppose it would have to be I wasn’t bored watching. For me the story didn’t hold true. The characters were insincere, the moral missing, the purpose- anybodies guess. More, it didn’t hold true in any way to it’s time period. Go see something else.
Beatriz at Dinner was … enjoyable. A bit predictable. Visually engrossing.
I, Daniel Blake
Went tonight to see I, Daniel Blake at the Cosford at UM. I enjoyed the movie. It was a story, something I am more accustomed to reading about , as opposed to seeing on the screen. Slow, interesting, thought provoking. a sad tale, and yet also, after sone thought, a story that spoke to being true to ones self.
