It’s a good place for a quick bite, a lunch with friends, dinner in the neighborhood. I like the Chicken with Portabello. And Mufungo.

Salvadore D
Salvadore D is a surprising little place hidden in the Winn Dixie shopping plaza at Sunset and 87th. Its been there for years and is considered to be one of the finer Italian spots in town, certainly outside of the Gables and Downtown. Continue reading “Salvadore D”
Finka
People who i have met who live in Kendall rave about Finka. I will say we had a nice meal with adequate service, but i don’t think i would drive out there to try it again.
Shibui
Out Sunset near 107th Ave.
I always forget this place exists. Its really a nice sushi house. I have many friends that call it their favorite. Regular sushi menu.
Sports Grill
I love wings. And these are among the best. Not breaded, just marinated, fried , and grilled. Go for the special grill. You can also get shrimp skewers and fries if you want to eat like me. Maybe a burger, a piece of fish. Its a full delicious bar menu in the heart of south miami. sit outside and watch the people to be seen clamoring over Georges next door.
Zuma
I love Zuma, but I like it best when there are 4 or 6 of us and we can share and taste. Ridiculously expensive and so worth it. Leave 30 minuted to get your car out of valet. Asian fusion.. each dish is unique, each flavor enticing. its a top notch place with nothing comparable around. On a cool night you can sit outside on the river and watch the boats pass by. On any other night you can watch the beautiful people and the plates of food passing by.

Akashi
Sushi in South Miami. I will forever think of this place as my sons place as he introduced me. I had seen this little train for years and never gone in until one day my son suggested it. And what a good suggestion. Clean, good, small, nice menu, good food.
Il forno
Back to Doral… I’m still not sure what or where it is but its fifteen minutes north on the palmetto?? maybe? and filled with good food.
The large room was anchored by a wood fired oven. The tables were well spaced, the patrons all happy. Great drinks, good food, good service.
I had a veal chop with potatoes and spinach. All top notch. The bread was puffy and oil for dipping fresh.
If i lived in Doral might keep trying it.
Casabe 305 Bistro
a little house on coral way. it feels like home. You will find it by looking for the little white lights wrapped around the tree. You will love it

I feel like i need to give this place another try. Its been open for a few years and although i didn’t like it when i tried it, it did have an interesting menu and seems worth giving another shot.
